Eating and drinking well through a UAE summer
Heat changes how hungry and thirsty you feel. Small habits that help you eat well when it is hot.
Summer in the UAE is long and hot, and it changes how most of us eat: heavy meals feel harder, appetite drops in the afternoon, and it is easy to drink less than you need.
Drink before you are thirsty
In the heat you lose water faster than you notice, even indoors with air conditioning. Keep water within reach and sip through the day rather than all at once. Pale-yellow urine is a simple sign you are drinking enough; if you exercise outdoors, drink before, during and after.
Lighter meals, regular times
When it is hot, several balanced meals usually feel better than one large one. Fresh vegetables, fruit and lean protein sit lightly and still keep you full. Eating at roughly the same times each day also stops the late-evening hunger that heat tends to push back.
Let the food come to you
On the hottest days, nobody wants to stand over a stove or carry shopping across a car park. A delivered plan means the meals arrive ready, so the effort goes into drinking enough and staying cool — not into cooking.
